Residents of Monmouth and Ocean Counties who are serviced by New Jersey American Water are being encouraged to minimize their water usage on Monday. This comes as maintenance is underway on a 36-inch valve at the Jumping Brook Water Treatment Plant in Neptune, impacting a broad swath of customers. The call for water conservation began on Sunday.
The need for reduced water usage, which has been declared “mandatory” by the company, is attributed not only to the repair work but also to the heightened demand typical of summer periods.
The water use limitations are in effect for the following areas:
In Monmouth County: Aberdeen, Allenhurst, Asbury Park, Atlantic Highlands, Avon, Belmar, Bradley Beach, Colts Neck, Deal, Eatontown, Fair Haven, Highlands, Holmdel, Interlaken, Keansburg, Lake Como, Little Silver, Loch Arbor, Long Branch, Matawan, Middletown, Monmouth Beach, Neptune City, Neptune Township, Ocean Township, Oceanport, Red Bank, Rumson, Sea Bright, Shrewsbury, Shrewsbury Township, Tinton Falls, Union Beach, and West Long Branch.
In Ocean County: Bay Head.
